General overview of HIV/AIDS in the United States of America.

Using data from the 2011-2013 National Survey of Family Growth, this report updates nationally representative estimates and trends for HIV testing among the U.S. household population aged 15-44. Patterns of reported HIV testing in 2011-2013 are shown by age, race and Hispanic origin, education, and selected sexual behaviors that may be related to an elevated risk of HIV infection.

This data brief provides information on the percentages of teenagers aged 15-19 who had sexual activity, contraceptive use and methods, and probability of childbearing.

This session focuses on hepatitis B global epidemiology, as well as hepatitis D testing, management and treatment. This interactive session discusses how we can work together to improve awareness and testing for HBV co-infection.

People aged 50 and older have the same HIV risk factors as younger people, but may be less aware of their HIV risk factors. At the end of 2014, an estimated 428,724 people aged 50 and over were living with diagnosed HIV in the United States.

HIV continues to be a serious threat to the health of the Hispanic/Latino community. In 2015, Hispanics/Latinos accounted for about one quarter of all new diagnoses of HIV in the United States, despite representing about 18% of the total US population.

In 2014, gay and bisexual men made up an estimated 2% of the U.S. population, but accounted for 70% of new HIV infections. Approximately 492,000 sexually active gay and bisexual men are at high risk for HIV.

The National STD Curriculum is a free educational Web site from the University of Washington STD Prevention Training Center and the University of Washington. This project is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The National STD Curriculum addresses the epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, management, and prevention of STDs. Free CME credit and free CNE credit are offered throughout the site.

This book describes exposure, infection, disease, and death from TB using epidemiological data. It reviews statistics, including the number of TB cases, the duration of infection in these cases, and the number of case contact interactions per unit of time.
