National STD Curriculum

The National STD Curriculum is a free educational Web site from the University of Washington STD Prevention Training Center and the University of Washington. This project is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The National STD Curriculum addresses the epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, management, and prevention of STDs. Free CME credit and free CNE credit are offered throughout the site.

The new edition of this guide provides a background on basic epidemiology for TB program staff, as well as descriptions of how these concepts can be put to practical use. In addition to basic epidemiology for tuberculosis, this guide contains information on epidemiologic and statistical techniques that are used in research studies and a chapter on TB genotyping. The information in this guide will assist in analyzing data, assessing current and evolving trends in TB morbidity, identifying risk groups and determining where to allocate staff and resources.

WHO report 2009: Global Tuberculosis Control: Epidemiology, Strategy, Financing

WHO's report on Global TB Control compiles data from over 200 countries and territories each year, monitoring the scale and direction of TB epidemics, implementation and impact of the Stop TB Strategy, and progress towards the Millennium Development Goals.

Global Tuberculosis Report 2014

This is the nineteenth global report on tuberculosis (TB) published by WHO in a series that started in 1997. It provides a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the TB epidemic and progress in implementing and financing TB prevention, care and control at global, regional and country levels using data reported by 200 countries and territories that account for over 99% of the world’s TB cases.

Mortality Among Patients with Tuberculosis and Associations With HIV Status – United States, 1993-2008

This report provides data on the mortality among patients with TB and associations with HIV infection. To investigate the impact of HIV on risk for death during TB treatment in the United States, data were analyzed for all culture-positive patients with TB from 1993 to 2008. The proportion that died was determined and stratified by HIV test result. Mortality data were restricted to patients reported before 2007.
