Global Tuberculosis Report 2013

This is the eighteenth global report on tuberculosis (TB) published by WHO in a series that started in 1997. It provides a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the TB epidemic and progress in implementing and ?nancing TB prevention, care and control at global, regional and country levels using data reported by 197 countries and territories that account for over 99% of the world’s TB cases.

Although great strides have been made, tuberculosis remains one of the most common infectious diseases worldwide and still poses a threat to the U.S. population. This pamphlet provides a basic, easy-to-read overview of TB including how it is spread, common symptoms, and treatment. It also explains who should get tested for TB and why some people may be at higher risk. Calm, straightforward language gives this title a reassuring tone while encouraging action.

Story of Mary: TB is Curable

This video discusses the challenges of childhood TB by telling the story of Mary, a five year old girl who lives in Africa. A community health worker helped her realize that her persistent cough may be TB.

Self-Study Modules on Tuberculosis, 6-9

These modules are designed for health care workers and provide TB programmatic information. The modules include information on managing patients and improving adherence, patient rights and confidentiality, contact investigations, and outbreak detection and response.
