Compendium of Tools and Strategies to Achieve Universal Access to TB Care for Vulnerable and At-Risk Groups

This document contains links to over 650 tools and reference materials. It is intended for national TB program staff in high burden settings who are trying to identify strategies to reach at-risk and vulnerable communities more effectively. The goal of the document is to introduce readers to the range of tools and strategies that are available in TB control.

Training Package on Xpert MTB/RIF

This set of 11 training modules on the Xpert MTB/RIF assay was developed by Global Laboratory Initiative partners, including FIND, KNCV, USAID, CDC and WHO. The modules include topics such as biosafety, specimen collection and transportation, supplies management, installation, Xpert MTB/RIF procedures, recording and reporting, and troubleshooting.

An Activist’s Guide to Tuberculosis Drugs

This guide provides a summary of safety and efficacy data for drugs currently in use to treat TB. The guide also suggests advocacy points for activists, clinicians, and others working in TB.

This poster encourages people to buy queso fresco from safe sources. It was developed for and tested with low-literacy Spanish-speaking populations.

Mycobacteriology Laboratory Manual

This laboratory manual references best practices from the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) MGIT Procedure Manual, and laboratory procedures from the National Institutes of Health TB Research Unit, as well as biosafety recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Information in the manual includes standardized procedures related to sputum collection, handling, analyses, and reporting.

The TB Voices Project

The TB Voices Project documented individuals' TB experience using photos, video/voice recordings, and/or their written story. Twenty-eight people from across King and Snohomish County, Washington shared their TB experiences through the TB Voices Project in 2013. The website contains: video and audio clips of more than 25 TB stories; a 13 minute video applicable for all audiences; and an active blog.
