Cases of HIV Infection and AIDS in tihe United States and Dependent Areas, by Race/Ethnicity, 2003-2007

This report summarizes the diagnoses and prevalence of HIV/AIDS by race/ethnicity using data for cases of HIV infection and AIDS reported to CDC through June 2008. Estimated numbers of cases of HIV infection are presented, including cases of HIV infection that progressed to AIDS. Data are stratified by the following races and ethnic groups: American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, and white.

Sexual and Reproductive Health of Persons Aged 10-24 Years - United States, 2002-2007

This report presents data for 2002-2007 on sexual and reproductive health of persons aged 10-24 years in the United States. Data were compiled from the National Vital Statistics System and multiple surveys and surveillance systems that monitor sexual and reproductive health outcomes. The report addresses three primary topics: (1) current levels of risk behavior and health outcomes; (2) disparities by sex, age, race/ethnicity, and geographic residence; and (3) trends over time.

Indian Health Surveillance Report: Sexually Transmitted Diseases 2007

This report presents statistics and trends for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) in the United States. The report is divided into two parts: the National STD Profile (1984-2007) contains text and figures that provide an overview of STD morbidity among AI/AN in the United States; and the IHS profiles (1998-2007) present STD rates and trends for the 12 IHS administrative areas.

MMWR: National, State, and Local Area Vaccination Coverage Among Children Aged 19-35 Months - United States, 2008

This report provides information on the National Immunization Survey (NIS) which estimated vaccination coverage among children aged 19-35 months for 50 states and selected local areas. It describes the 2008 NIS coverage estimates for the 4:3:1:3:3:1 series and individual vaccines, 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, =2 dose of Hepatitis A vaccine, and hepatitis B vaccine among children born during January 2005 - June 2007. Results demonstrate that the nation’s immunization program remained successful in maintaining high vaccination rates among young children.

Syringe Exchange Programs – United States, 2008

This study discusses information on the 184 syringe exchange programs (SEPs) operating in 36 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Of these SEPs, 67% completed a mail/telephone survey conducted by North American Syringe Exchange Network (NASEN) and Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, which covered program operations for 2008. The report summarizes findings from the survey and compares them with results from a previous SEP survey for 1994-2007.

Hepatitis A Vaccination Coverage Among U.S. Children Aged 12-23 Months–Immunization Information System Sentinel Sites, 2006–2009

In this study, CDC reports on assessed hepatitis A vaccine coverage among children aged 12-23 months from 2006-2009, using data from eight Immunization Information System sentinel sites. Average hepatitis A vaccination coverage with =1 dose at the sites increased from 17 percent in 2006 to 47 percent in 2009. Average full vaccination coverage with =2 vaccine doses through age 23 months increased from one percent in 2006 to 15 percent in 2009. Vaccine coverage with =1 dose increased most during 2006 through the first quarter of 2007, then slowed.

Hepatitis and Liver Cancer: A National Strategy for Prevention and Control of Hepatitis B and C

This report contains recommendations by the Committee on the Prevention and Control of Viral Hepatitis Infections of the National Academies of the Institute of Medicine, on prevention and control of hepatitis B and hepatitis C in the United States. The committee identified the underlying factors that impede current efforts to prevent and control these diseases.

This report present statistics and trends for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the United States through 2009. The information is based on (1) data from notifiable disease reporting from state and local STD programs; (2) projects that monitor STD prevalence in various settings, including Regional Infertility Prevention projects, the National Job Training Program, the Indian Health Service, the STD Surveillance Network, and the Gonococcal Isolate Surveillance Project; and (3) National surveys implemented by federal and private organizations.
