This audience profile provides a broad overview of the sexual health of youth in the United States, including a brief demographic profile, trends in relationships and communication, and a summary of sexual health knowledge and behaviors, physical health, and use of sexual health care services.

Sexual Health Education Scope and Sequence

This information sheet provides a brief overview on sexual health education scope and sequence. The sexual health education scope and sequence identifies what students should know and when it should be taught for each grade or grade group to lower students’ risk of STDs and teen pregnancy.

Youth Online Data Tool

This online tool allows those working in adolescent sexual health settings to analyze national, state, and local Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) data from 1991 to 2015. Data from high school and middle school surveys are included. Data can be filtered and sorted based on race/ethnicity, sex, grade, or site; customized tables and graphs can be created, and statistical tests can be performed by site and health topic. Topics include sexual behaviors, HIV testing, alcohol and drug use, and more.

National STD Curriculum

The National STD Curriculum is a free educational Web site from the University of Washington STD Prevention Training Center and the University of Washington. This project is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The National STD Curriculum addresses the epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, management, and prevention of STDs. Free CME credit and free CNE credit are offered throughout the site.
