National HIV Prevention Inventory: Module 3 - Prevention Programming

This report is an update to the 2009 The National HIV Prevention Inventory: The State of HIV Prevention Across the U.S. (NHPI), which was based on a survey of 65 state, territorial, and local health departments. This report presents findings on HIV prevention programs in the areas of HIV planning, evidence-based interventions, collaboration and integration, implementing the ACA and developing jurisdictional HIV continuums of care. This final module summarizes all activities supported by federal, state, and local HIV prevention funding with a focus on High-Impact Prevention.

This update surveyed 67 CDC-funded state, territorial and directly-funded cities in May 2012.

Hepatitis A: General Information

This information sheet provides general information about hepatitis A. It explains the disease; provides statistics on hepatitis occurrence in the United States; and discusses at-risk persons, transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment. It promotes the usage of vaccine as the best method of preventing the disease and lists persons who should get vaccinated against hepatitis A.

This poster states that many people are unaware of their hepatitis infection. The illustration is in the shape of a United States map with small thumbnail pictures of different people. It advises individuals to talk to their doctor and get tested.

One in Twenty

This video details how common hepatitis B is and the dangers associated with it. It says that one in twenty people have been exposed to hepatitis B and that most people don't know they have it. The video also says that hepatitis B is the 3rd most common cause of death from cancer in males, and the 7th most common in females. It also describes the history of the Hepatitis B Foundation and how the organization is working to finding a cure, improving the lives of those living with hepatitis B, and eliminating the disease.

It's Your Future. You Can Protect It.

This poster encourages teens who is sexually active to always use condoms, along with another form of birth control, to prevent pregnancy. It also encourages condom use to prevent transmission of STDs and HIV.

Condom Distribution as a Structural-Level Intervention

This information sheet discusses condom distribution as a structural level intervention. It states that Condom Distribution Programs (CDPs) have proven to increase condom use, prevent HIV and STDs, and save money. The fact sheet also provides elements to consider while designing an effective CDP. The information sheet provides examples of successful programs at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the District of Columbia Department of Health, HIV/AIDS Hepatitis, STD, and TB Administration.
