This advocacy brochure shows how one million lives can be saved by the end of 2015 by preventing and treating tuberculosis among people living with HIV.

Collaborative Framework for Care and Control of Tuberculosis and Diabetes

WHO and The Union have developed a Collaborative Framework for Care and Control of Tuberculosis and Diabetes, which presents recommendations based on evidence from systematic reviews and a series of expert consultations. It outlines essential steps for coordinated action in three areas: (1) establishment of mechanisms for collaboration between national TB programmes and suitable counterparts responsible for care and control of diabetes; (2) improved detection and management of TB in patients with diabetes; (3) improved detection and management of diabetes in patients with TB.

The Symptoms of TB

This animation provides a visual guide to the most common symptoms of TB and advises people to contact a doctor if they think they might have the illness.

TB and Cultural Competency: Finding My Voice

The latest issue of the New Jersey Medical School Global Tuberculosis Institute’s Cultural Competency newsletter focused on patient advocacy. The issue was released in conjunction with World TB Day. It highlights the moving story of one patient’s experience with a TB diagnosis, and how she helped other TB patients, their loved ones and healthcare providers in the struggle against TB. The issue also includes information on confronting stigma, extrapulmonary TB and advocacy resources.

TB and Cultural Competency: Notes from the Field

This issue focuses on the story of Raquel Orduño, whose on-going TB advocacy began with a group of people who came together to document and portray their experiences with TB along the United States (U.S.)-Mexico border. It also includes information on advocacy, social support and supportive language.

MDR-TB Planning Toolkit

The MDR-TB Planning Toolkit is designed to help assist countries develop or strengthen a multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) component within their national TB strategy or plan. Eight tools contain worksheets to assist the user through key planning steps. The toolkit is intended for countries, technical partners, international organizations, and donors.

Global Tuberculosis Report 2012

This is the seventeenth global report on tuberculosis (TB) published by WHO in a series that started in 1997. It provides a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the TB epidemic and progress in implementing and financing TB prevention, care and control at global, regional and country levels using data reported by 204 countries and territories that account for over 99% of the world’s TB cases.
