Patient Puppets, Inc provide medical demonstration puppets and equipment for educating and comforting children. Patient Puppets have the same illness as the child; they can act as a role model to demonstrate TB medical procedures.

As a member of the Stop TB Partnership, the Health and Development Networks moderated a six-month discussion on the Stop TB eForum on key roles and needs of front-line health workers in stopping tuberculosis. This publication describes key findings and recommendations from the discussions on the crucial role front-line health workers play in TB control.

This report, from the National Tuberculosis Controllers Association and CDC, is an update of the American Thoracic Society guidelines on the investigation, diagnostic evaluation, and medical treatment of TB contacts published in 1976. These revised guidelines provide recommendations concerning investigation of TB exposure and transmission and prevention of future cases of TB through contact investigation.

The Self-Study Modules are a series of 4 modules, including an overview of the TB interview for contact investigations, basics of communication and patient education, cultural competency, and special interview circumstances.

This package includes an instruction guide and a DVD. The DVD illustrates the benefits of adopting cohort review and highlights the roles of the cohort review team members. The guide explains the three key elements of the cohort review process and how to adapt the process to your own TB program. The DVD was produced by the CDC, Creative Digital Group, and the Constella Group. The instruction guide was developed by the CDC and the Charles P. Felton National Tuberculosis Center.

The information kit is also available with a videotape.

Social Support Services for Tuberculosis Clients

This guide is to help providers establish and enhance social support services in a TB clinic. The purpose of this guide is to help the worker to (1) establish social services, (2) develop a therapeutic alliance with clients, (3) create an Intake Form to identify barriers to TB treatment and formulate goals to reduce those barriers and increase client functioning, (4) counsel and help clients achieve their goals, (5) form support groups, and (6) lead or participate in case management.

Tuberculosis Medication Drug and Food Interactions

This information card provides information on the multiple significant drug interactions between TB medications; specifically, INH, rifampin, and other medications and the effect of the interaction. It also provides information on food interactions with TB drugs.
