Entrenamiento Para Trabajadores y Educadores de la Hepatitis C: Manual Para Entrenadores

This monograph is an instruction guide by the Harm Reduction Coalition’s Hepatitis C Harm Reduction Project, a New York City Council-funded technical assistance project initiated in late 2003. The training consists of basic concepts about outreach work, peer education, and hepatitis C. The 3-session program was designed to help syringe exchange peers integrate hepatitis C into their work with current and former drug users. The goal of each session is to provide a basic understanding of each subject covered.

Revised Guidelines for HIV Counseling, Testing, and Referral and Revised Recommendations for HIV Screening of Pregnant Women

This MMWR provides revised guidelines for HIV counseling, testing, and referral (CTR) and revised recommendations for HIV screening of pregnant women. It encourages the availability of anonymous and confidential HIV testing and informed, voluntary, and consented HIV testing; access to testing and effective provision of test results; and using a prevention counseling approach aimed at personal risk reduction for HIV-infected persons and persons at increased risk for HIV infection.

Toolbox: Treating Latent Tuberculosis Infection in High-Risk Populations

These tools are primarily for urban TB programs wishing to improve secondary prevention of TB in those groups at high risk of progression to TB disease, including the homeless, chemically dependent, and mentally ill. The materials include sample letters, forms, and job descriptions and protocols as well as templates of these tools for adaptation to local programs. The templates are Microsoft Word files so you can customize these templates for your own program. Most of the samples and resources are PDF files so you will need a version of Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to open them.

This brochure provides parents with important information about latent TB infection (LTBI) in children. It is designed in a question and answer format with highlighted information for quick and easy readability. The brochure can be distributed to parents of children with LTBI and can also used by health care providers when providing education on LTBI to parents. This product is intended to be downloaded, printed and distributed at health department clinics or other locations where treatment of children with LTBI is provided.

TB and Cultural Competency: Notes from the field

This issue discusses a nurses’ relationship with a Vietnamese couple affected by TB. It highlights some challenges in communication, and how they were overcome. The issue also includes information on communication styles and use of open-ended questions.

HIV Prevention in theThird Decade: Activities of CDC's Divisions of HIV/AIDS Prevention

This report focuses on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the US and the work of the CDC’s division of HIV/AIDS prevention. It provides a brief history of the accomplishments since 1981, discusses the current status of the epidemic in the US and how CDC is responding, using surveillance data reported to CDC from the 25 states with long-standing HIV reporting. It looks back on the successes of HIV/AIDS prevention and presents future plans.
