Comprehensive Cervical Cancer Control: A Guide to Essential Practice

This guide includes WHO recommendations on screening and treatment of pre-cancer lesions and on HPV vaccination made through April 2014, taking account of relevant evidence-based findings published up to December 2013; emerging practices that are still being evaluated are also noted in this publication. This guide, which replaces the 2006 edition, has two new chapters, one newly organized chapter, and two substantially revised chapters. The new chapters include: Essentials for cervical a=cancer prevention and control programmes; and HPV vaccination.

Tuberculosis: Handbook for School Nurses

This handbook provides information concerning the role of school nurses in the prevention, testing, and medical treatment of students with TB. The handbook is divided into three sections: TB Fundamentals with a particular focus on school-aged children; Applying TB Fundamentals in the school setting, which covers issues related to medication administration, treatment adherence, and directly observed therapy (DOT) in the school setting; and Appendices that include risk assessment guidelines, medication side effects, and templates for record keeping.

Occupational HIV Transmission and Prevention Among Health Care Workers

This information sheet provides recommendations from the CDC regarding the prevention of occupational transmission of HIV to health care workers (HCWs). The primary means of preventing the HCW's occupational exposure to HIV is to follow infection control precautions with the assumption that the blood and other body fluids from all patients are potentially infectious. Plans for postexposure management of HCWs should be in place, and the administration of antiretroviral drugs as postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) should be considered.

This workbook contains an initial list of opportunities that stakeholders from various sectors can undertake to complement the federal efforts detailed in the 100-page Action Plan for the Prevention, Care, & Treatment of Viral Hepatitis. It was created to assist organizations and stakeholders in identifying additional innovative and actionable (specific and detailed) opportunities to advance each of the Action Plan’s six priority areas. TB 101 para Trabajadores de la Salud

TB 101 for Health Care Workers is a web-based course designed to educate newly hired health care workers about basic concepts related to TB prevention and control in the U.S. Continuing education (CE) is offered free of charge for various professions based on approximately 1 hour of instruction. Upon successful completion of the course, exam, and evaluation, a CE certificate will be issued by CDC Training and Continuing Education Online. This course is also available in English.

Medicare and HIV/AIDS

This information sheet discusses Medicare coverage for people age 65 and older or younger people who are disabled by HIV. The information sheet explains Medicare benefits, eligibility, Medicare spending and caseload, and its future outlook. A profile of HIV/AIDS patients receiving Medicare is presented. Filling the gaps in Medicare coverage with Medicaid or other programs such as the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP).
