This information sheet discusses the importance of getting tested for HIV, regardless of age. It states that one in four new HIV infections are in women.

Comprehensive Cervical Cancer Control: A Guide to Essential Practice

This guide includes WHO recommendations on screening and treatment of pre-cancer lesions and on HPV vaccination made through April 2014, taking account of relevant evidence-based findings published up to December 2013; emerging practices that are still being evaluated are also noted in this publication. This guide, which replaces the 2006 edition, has two new chapters, one newly organized chapter, and two substantially revised chapters. The new chapters include: Essentials for cervical a=cancer prevention and control programmes; and HPV vaccination.

HIV Risk for Lesbians, Bisexuals & Other Women Who Have Sex With Women

This report discusses the risk of HIV/AIDS for lesbians and women who have sex with women (WSW). It reviews research on the risks of contracting HIV faced by lesbians and WSW and the context of HIV among women. The report considers how lesbians contract HIV or AIDS, the belief that WSW are part of a low-risk population, and the activities that increase risk, such as injection drug use, sex with men, barriers to health access, gender bias and discrimination and their effect on WSW’s self esteem, and violence.

Addressing the Needs of Black Women in HIV Prevention in the U.S.

This infographic demonstrates some of the risk factors that contribute to higher HIV infection rates in American Black women, including classism, racism, and sexism. It illustrates that one in every 32 black women will be diagnosed with HIV, compared to one in 526 white women. It provides recommendations for HIV prevention interventions and gives additional resources. HIV/AIDS in the Lives of Gay and Bisexual Men in the United States

This report summarizes the findings of survey of gay and bisexual men in the U.S. that focused on their attitudes, knowledge, and experiences with HIV/AIDS and new HIV therapies. The study was conducted to find out what gay and bisexual men knew and thought about HIV, new treatments, and the obstacles to taking them.

HIV, Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), and Women: New Opportunities Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA)

This information sheet is an Issue Brief that discusses how Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) has been shown to be associated with increased risk for HIV among women as well as poorer treatment outcomes for those who are already infected. The brief provides an overview of new opportunities to address the needs of women at risk for and living with HIV who have experienced IPV, as well as a summary of key statistics and definitions.

This pocket card charts the 11 HIV/AIDS Awareness Days that occur throughout the year. It also encourages people to visit www.aids.gov to view webinars, which include a weekly virtual training on new media tools and tips.

Young People Living with HIV Around the World: Challenges to Health and Well-Being Persist

This information sheet discusses the rates and issues that face young people who contract HIV. It states that 41 percent of new HIV infections are among young people, with the majority of those being women, in areas of the world where stigma widespread, leaving them at greater societal disadvantage. The fact sheet also states that most HIV deaths are in low and middle-income countries.
