RAISE and NASTAD’s webinar, “Integrating Implementation Science Methods into Health Department HIV Programs & Evaluation,” took place on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. This webinar featured the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health’s efforts to incorporate implementation science methods into HIV programming and evaluation.

The webinar, “Low-Barrier Care as Part of Differentiated Service Delivery for People with HIV”, was held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Dr. Julie Dombrowski, Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington and Deputy Director of the Public Health for Seattle & King County’s (PHSKC) HIV/STD Program, gave this talk. The webinar explored low-barrier HIV care, its purpose and design, and discuss how PHSKC has implemented this model. This webinar was co-sponsored by RAISE and NASTAD. 

Planning for Product Development Strategy (R34 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to support the development of a comprehensive and well-defined product development strategy for next-generation treatments for HIV and HIV-associated comorbidities, coinfections and complication and preventive strategies for HIV, as well as facilitating the translation of research findings into drug products that enables submission of an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the FDA.

HIV Data Privacy, Criminalization, and the Role of Health Departments

On June 23, 2023, NASTAD held a webinar, “HIV Data Privacy, Criminalization, and the Role of Health Departments.” This webinar provided an overview of NASTAD’s newly updated resource “U.S. HIV Data Protection Landscape,” including trends and findings from a comprehensive 53-jurisdiction review of HIV data privacy laws and regulations, followed by a discussion with two guest speakers about the role of health departments and legal counsel in upholding and strengthening HIV data protections. 

EHE Plans and Websites

To achieve the goal of reducing new HIV infections in the United States by 75% by 2025 and 90% by 2030, health departments and community partners are working collaboratively to develop and implement plans to End the HIV Epidemic (EHE). The planning process includes engagement of the community, HIV planning bodies, HIV prevention and care providers, and other partners in aligning resources and activities to develop jurisdictional EHE plans.
