The video and viewer’s guide will help guide TB healthcare healthcare providers to work more effectively with interpreters. It will also help equip bilingual or multilingual TB staff with fundamental interpreting skills as they may be asked to interpret when a trained interpreter is not available.

These guides have been adapted into a series of “quick reference guides.” There are quick reference guides for the countries that have accounted for more than 60% of the TB cases among foreign-born persons over the past five years: Mexico, the Philippines, India, Vietnam, China, Guatemala, and Haiti.
The case highlighted in this issue came from a state health department nurse who lived in the small town located on a large Great Plains Indian reservation where this case unfolded. It involved an extended family spanning 4 generations, all of whom lived in the same 3-bedroom house.
