Workplace-Based Investigation of Contacts of a Patient With Highly Infectious Tuberculosis – Maryland, District of Columbia, and Virginia, 2006

This report describes an investigation to determine the extent of TB transmission, including identifying and screening exposed contacts of a 46 year-old patient diagnosed with TB, and providing treatment. The report describes the multijurisdictional contact investigation, since the patient traveled to three jurisdictions in the course of his work, and summarizes the results.

Reported Tuberculosis in the United States, 2007

This report presents summary data for TB cases reported to the Division of TB Elimination (DTBE), verified, and counted in 2007. These reports of TB cases were submitted by 60 reporting areas (50 states, the District of Columbia, New York City, Puerto Rico, and seven other jurisdictions in the Pacific and Caribbean).

The Difference Between Latent TB Infection and Active TB Disease

This information sheet discusses tuberculosis (TB) and the difference between the two TB-related conditions: latent TB infection (LTBI) and TB disease. It explains what is meant by LTBI, and, that although persons with LTBI cannot spread the disease, if left untreated, they can develop active TB in the future. The information sheet also describes active TB disease, its symptoms, and the need for treatment.

Ethnographic Guides: Promoting Cultural Sensitivity - A Practical Guide for Tuberculosis Programs

This information kit is meant to increase the knowledge and cultural sensitivity of TB program staff who provide services to foreign-born persons living in the United States. It includes five guides, each of which contains information about a group’s history and culture, program tips, and useful resources. The guides focus on populations from the following countries: China, Laos (Hmong), Mexico, Somalia, and Vietnam.

This website also allows TB organizations to share their World TB Day 2019 activities.The 2019 US World TB Day theme is "It’s TIME."
