Hep B United Philadelphia is a community owned coalition and campaign led by the Hepatitis B Foundation to eliminate local health disparities associated with hepatitis B and liver cancer. Their goals are to improve awareness, screening, vaccination and linkage to care for high-risk underserved communities in Philadelphia. The coalition accomplishes this by: raising the profile of hepatitis B and liver cancer as a public health priority among patients, health care and human service providers, and the general public within Philadelphia; promoting the importance of hepatitis B testing and vaccination, particularly among Philadelphia’s Asian communities at greatest risk; and stimulating community engagement and involvement to improve access to care for those affected by chronic hepatitis B infections. With a coalition of more than 60 organizations including the Philadelphia Department of Health, they have educated more than 2,500 individuals, screened more than 1,000 and successfully linked individuals with medical care and vaccination.
