A variety of advocacy materials that were released by the Stop TB Partnership ahead of the United Nations High-Level General Assembly Meeting. Background Document Prepared for the Meeting of the Second ad hoc Committee on the TB Epidemic

This report is the background document of the 2nd ad hoc Committee on the TB epidemic. The committee has reviewed progress in global TB control, examined constraints to improved TB control in high-burden countries, and sought solutions to these constraints through a wide consultative process during 2003. The results of this work are set out in this background document prepared for the meeting of the 2nd ad hoc Committee in September 2003.

Responding to AIDS, TB, Malaria and Emerging Infectious Diseases in Burma Dilemmas of Policy and Practice

This report seeks to synthesize what is known about HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB and other disease threats including Avian influenza (H5N1 virus) in Burma; assess the regional health and security concerns associated with these epidemics; and to suggest policy options for responding to these threats in the context of tightening restrictions imposed by the junta.

Improving the Diagnosis and Treatment of Smear-Negative Pulmonary and Extrapulmonary Tuberculosis Among Adults and Adolescents -- Recommendations for HIV-Prevalent and Resource-Constrained Settings

This document is intended for those dealing with tuberculosis and HIV at all levels in HIV-prevalent and resource-constrained settings. It is intended to assist development of national policies to improve the diagnosis and management of smear-negative pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis. The recommendations and algorithms are designed for use by national tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS control programs and service providers.

Working with the Media: How to Make Your Messages on Tuberculosis Count

The aim of this handbook is to equip individuals and programs with the tools necessary for working with the media to spread messages regarding TB. The handbook walks the reader through the planning and execution of media outreach: from thinking about goals to attracting media attention. Tips and suggestions for developing key messages, handling interviews, writing news releases and calling journalists are also included.

The document is currently available online. In the future it will also be available in hard copy and will be translated into French.

This report highlights the issues surrounding high prices and poor supply of the drugs needed to treat drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB). The report provides an overview of available drug-resistant TB medicines, including drug sources, quality status, and price.
