Tuberculosis and Air Travel: Guidelines for Prevention and Control, Second Edition

The revised guidelines address the concerns about transmission of TB
during air travel and provide the following: (i) information on transmission
of TB on aircraft; (ii) a summary of the practices adopted for the
management of patients with infectious TB associated with air travel,
and of commonly encountered diffi culties; (iii) suggestions on practical
ways to reduce the risk of exposure to M. tuberculosis on board commercial
aircraft, and (iv) guidance on procedures to follow and responsibilities

TB Guidelines for Nurses in the Care and Control of Tuberculosis and Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis

This guideline is intended to help nurses in their role of detecting TB cases, providing care, and managing TB treatment. It provides a nursing approach to planning and delivering patient care, aimed at improving access and quality of care throughout the treatment period. It offers a review of TB and multidrug-resistant TB (MDR TB) and the directly observed treatment short-course (DOTS) and DOTS-Plus strategy, as well as guidance on how to adapt TB control information for local program implementation.

This report summarizes the recommendations of the Association of Public Health Laboratories Task Force on Tuberculosis Laboratory Services. The report describes in greater detail the actions and performance measures that were used to guide development and implementation of an integrated system for providing TB laboratory services. This report also provides information on the scientific basis of the recommendations.

Performance Guidelines: A Supervisor's Guide for the Development and Assessment of TB Field Investigation Skills

This manual provides supervisors with methods for training and tools to assess a health care worker’s field investigation skills including ability to set priorities, locate patients, and provide motivation and education to ensure medical evaluation, utilize appropriate investigation techniques, and disposition investigations in a timely manner. Also presented are recommendations for documenting and retaining work assignments and evaluation of field activities.

Identifying Missed Opportunities for Preventing TB: a Resource for TB Programs

This product will assist health department TB programs to document ways to decrease the number of TB cases. Specifically, programs can identify (1) providers who served the patient up to the TB diagnosis, and (2) points at which the provider failed to carry out TB testing and treatment recommendations. The product includes guidelines for completing the form, displaying data for analysis, and translating data into action.

Revised Tuberculosis Treatment Guidelines-2003

This poster serves as a quick reference to the Revised Treatment of Tuberculosis Guidelines published in February 2003 by the American Thoracic Society, CDC, and the Infectious Disease Society of America. It contains information on treatment during the initial and continuation dosing phases, the range of total doses and the rating, information on PZA and ethambutol dosing, dosing recommendations for adult patients with reduced renal function as well as for those receiving hemodialysis, and information on how to monitor those patients.
