Delta States Rural Development Network Grant Program

This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the Delta States Rural Development Network Grant Program (Delta Program). The Delta Program supports and encourages the development of integrated health care networks to address unmet local health care needs and prevalent health disparities in rural Delta communities.

Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America Systems Coordination Provider

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2020 for Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America –Technical Assistance Provider (HRSA-20-079) and Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America – Systems Coordination Provider (HRSA-20-089).

National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States: Updated to 2020

This report is an updated Strategy that looks ahead to 2020 and spells out the U.S. goals and objectives for the prevention and elimination of HIV infection. The Strategy has four main goals: 1) reducing new HIV infections; 2) increasing access to care and improving health health outcomes for people living with HIV; 3) reducing HIV-related health disparities and health inequities; and 4) achieving a more coordinated national response to the HIV epidemic.

Perspectives and Practice in Antiretroviral Treatment: The Lighthouse: A Centre for Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Treatment and Care in Malawi: Case Study

This report presents the case study of the Lighthouse Trust in Malawi, which was established to provide quality care and counseling and to improve the quality of life of persons with HIV/AIDS, including the terminally ill. The report describes the objective of the Lighthouse, its services, management, staffing, funding, community involvement, building facilities, diagnostic services, antiretroviral treatment implementation, clients served, adherence support strategies, clinical outcomes, added improvements, and lessons learned.

Introducing ARV Therapy in the Public Sector in Botwsana: Case Study

This case report provides information on the way the government of Botswana responded to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. When the government realized that it could not handle the epidemic alone it formed partnerships such as the public-private partnership called the African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS partnerships (ACHAP) with large international foundations and a pharmaceutical company to help support national coordination mechanisms, build sustainable capacity in health-care structure and systems, and to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive HIV/AIDS strategy.

3 by 5 Progress Report

This report describes the progress toward “3 by 5,” the target that 3 million persons with HIV in developing and transitional countries would be receiving antiretroviral (ARV) therapy by 2005. The report provides measures of progress made by the following countries: Botswana, Cambodia, Cameroon, Haiti, Mozambique, Thailand, and Zambia with support from international partners. It examines how the ARV therapy programs are being structured, the challenges faced by some countries, and how the countries are adapting.

DREAM: An Integrated Faith-Based Initiative to Treat HIV/AIDS in Mozambique: Case Study

This report describes the Drug Resources Enhancement Against AIDS and Malnutrition (DREAM) project in Mozambique. DREAM was created by the religious community of Sant’ Egidio in Rome. The main objective was to provide diagnosis and comprehensive treatment, prevention of perinatal transmission and of HIV transmission in the population through community care and home care services and mother and child prevention and care. The project uses a holistic approach by treating HIV with highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) as well as treating malnutrition, TB, malaria, and STDs.
