Tuberculosis y Embarazo [Tuberculosis and Pregnancy]

This information sheet discusses TB testing and treatment for pregnant women. It explains that tuberculin skin testing is safe during pregnancy, and describes the treatment regimen for pregnant women with latent TB infection (LTBI) or TB disease. It also describes the treatment regimen for HIV-infected women suspected of being coinfected with TB. The fact sheet provides a list of antituberculosis drugs that are contraindicated in pregnant women, and advises that breastfeeding should not be discouraged, as the small doses of first-line antituberculosis drugs excreted in breast milk will not cause toxicity in newborns.
