The Costly Burden of Drug-Resistant TB in the US

This information sheet presents a chart of the expense involved in the treatment of multidrug-resistant (MDR) TB and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) TB. It depicts the financial toll of MDR and XDR TB; the human cost of those being treated including death, inability to work, hospitalization, and isolation; and the serious physical and mental side effects that accompany treatment. The information sheet also shows what is necessary to prevent and control MDR and XDR TB in the United States.
