This 90-minute webinar is the second of two webinars to highlight the NTCA/APHL Consensus Statement on the Use of Cepheid GeneXpert MTB/RIF Assay. The first webinar is Changing TB Isolation Practices: New Guidelines for Molecular Testing.

This 75-minute webinar provides information on how to put together results from conventional growth-based and molecular methods of TB drug susceptibility testing (including conflicting or contradictory results) to request further testing and/or design optimal treatment regimens for TB patients.

The 90-minute webinar was created for TB program workers interested in learning about new recommendations for TB screening, testing, and treatment of U.S. Health Care Personnel. The  webinar was a collaboration among the Curry International Tuberculosis Center, the County of San Diego Health & Human Services Agency, Live Well San Diego, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

This 2 hour 30 minute webinar was co-hosted by the UCSF Center for Tuberculosis and the Curry International Tuberculosis Center. The event featured presentations from international leaders in TB research and policymaking. The webinar also presented UCSF research advances and upcoming programs. In addition, highlights from the World TB Day event in London were shared.

The 4 Tuberculosis Centers of Excellence for Training, Education, and Medical Consultation (TB COEs) have partnered with the National Tuberculosis Nursing Coalition (NTNC) on this nurse education series.

-Identify at-risk groups for TB infection and disease
-Appreciate the strengths and limitations of current diagnostic tests for TB infection

-Become familiar with issues associated with implementation of TB prevention services in the field
