HCSP Fact Sheet: Hepatitis C and U.S. Hispanics

This information sheet explains that the number of Hispanics with hepatitis C (2.6%) is higher than the number of people with hepatitis C in the general population (1.3%). It also states that hepatitis C disease progression has been shown to be faster in Hispanics than in non-Hispanic whites. The fact sheet describes treatment of hepatitis C, which has been found to be as effective in Hispanics as it is in other groups.

This booklet is a companion of a video DVD of the same name and is meant to make the general public aware of the HIV prevention and treatment needs faced by older adults, as well as dispel myths about older persons and sexual behavior. The booklet presents eight character profiles and should be used to: present factual information and talking points; serve as a guide to encourage long-term commitment to behavior change; encourage facilitator participation; cultivate critical thought and leadership skills.

TB 101 para Trabajadores de la Salud

TB 101 for Health Care Workers is a web-based course designed to educate newly hired health care workers about basic concepts related to TB prevention and control in the U.S. Continuing education (CE) is offered free of charge for various professions based on approximately 1 hour of instruction. Upon successful completion of the course, exam, and evaluation, a CE certificate will be issued by CDC Training and Continuing Education Online. This course is also available in English.

This information sheet provides general information about Hepatitis C. It explains that Hepatitis C is an infection of the liver caused by the Hepatitis C virus. The information sheet discusses the effect of Hepatitis C, acute and chronic forms of the disease, transmission, epidemiology, the seriousness of the disease, symptoms, diagnostic tests and who should be tested, treatment, and how people with Hepatitis C can take care of their liver.
