For the last ten years, Michael Diaz has been working in public health with marginalized populations including gay and bisexual Latino men and LGBTQ youth of color addressing sexual health as well as primary and secondary prevention efforts. Before joining the Capacity Building Assistance Project (CBA) at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene providing training and technical assistance to community based organizations and health departments, Mr. Diaz was a CBA Specialist at the Latino Commission on AIDS where he provided capacity building services to the national HIV workforce. Mr. Diaz is a master trainer on several evidenced based interventions by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As a CBA provider his training expertise has included gender and sexuality for service providers, culturally competent and linguistically appropriate services, and cultural humility at the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality. Additionally, he's been faculty of the Racial Justice Institute of the annual Creating Change Conference, hosted by the National LGBTQ Taskforce. Previously, Mr. Diaz was a fellow at the National Sexuality Resource Center and a Research Assistant at the Center for Research on Gender and Sexuality based in San Francisco. Mr. Diaz holds a B.A. in International Relations from Brown University and an M.A. in Sexuality Studies from San Francisco State University.
