This video instructs contact investigators on how to work with healthcare professionals to provide tuberculosis (TB) treatment.

This instructional video provides information on planning and conducting contact investigations in congregate settings. 

The 2019 Maryland Department of Health Guidelines for Prevention and Treatment of Tuberculosis serves a resource for Maryland healthcare providers and local health departments. The guidelines were approved by TB experts and TB clinicians within Maryland.

This toolkit is designed for health department staff responsible for planning and conducting TB contact investigations in school settings. The toolkit provides guidance, tips, and tools for planning and implementing a school TB contact investigation.

The Effective TB Interviewing for Contact Investigations Materials include a Faciltator-Led Training Guide, Self-Study Modules, and a Videotape. The materials can be used together or on their own. Each material has to be ordered separately from the CDC website order form. This 67-minute videotape demonstrates successful interviewing strategies with TB patients and is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of health care workers who are responsible for conducting TB interviews with patients as part of contact investigations.

This report summarizes the results of an investigation of the patients and their contacts in Chickasaw County, Mississippi during the period from June 1999 to March 2002, and demonstrates the need for strategies to increase the proportion of infected contacts that successfully complete treatment for latent TB infection (LTBI).

This manual provides supervisors with methods for training and tools to assess a health care worker’s field investigation skills including ability to set priorities, locate patients, and provide motivation and education to ensure medical evaluation, utilize appropriate investigation techniques, and disposition investigations in a timely manner. Also presented are recommendations for documenting and retaining work assignments and evaluation of field activities.
