National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States: Updated to 2020

This report is an updated Strategy that looks ahead to 2020 and spells out the U.S. goals and objectives for the prevention and elimination of HIV infection. The Strategy has four main goals: 1) reducing new HIV infections; 2) increasing access to care and improving health health outcomes for people living with HIV; 3) reducing HIV-related health disparities and health inequities; and 4) achieving a more coordinated national response to the HIV epidemic. The Strategy is a guiding document for a National plan, which can only be achieved by engagement at the national, state, Tribal, and local levels and across all sectors. The Strategy proposes to focus on four key areas of advancement in the next five years: widespread testing and linkage to care, broad support for people living with HIV to remain engaged in comprehensive care, universal viral suppression, and full access to comprehensive PrEP services.
