Delivery Hospital Policies and Procedures to Prevent Perinatal Hepatitis B Virus Transmission

This information sheet lists policies and procedures for use by hospitals to prevent mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B. The policies and procedures regard three time periods: (1) the time of admission for delivery; (2) the time after delivery for mothers with hepatitis B and their infants, for mothers with unknown hepatitis B status and their infants, and for all mothers and their infants; and (3) the time that the infant is discharged.
