GetTested Recommender Tool

There are nearly 1.2 million people in the United States living with HIV and close to 14% are unaware of their status.1 Getting tested is the first step to tackling this problem and prevention partners have an easy, yet effective, tool to make the process easier. CDC’s recently launched GetTested Recommender tool is an online feature that quickly finds free and confidential testing locations for HIV, STD, and viral hepatitis, as well as vaccine sites for STDs and hepatitis. The recommender tool asks visitors a few, simple questions to provide tailored recommendations for testing and vaccine recommendations based on age, sex, pregnancy status, and sexual orientation. Users can find nearby testing and vaccination sites and discuss their results with a healthcare provider. The site also offers new and improved features, revamped search results and maps interface, frequently asked questions for disease related information, and information on CDC testing campaigns.

Prevention partners are important resources to help individuals learn their HIV status so they can take steps to lead longer and healthier lives. Compatible with most devices, the GetTested Recommender tool is mobile friendly and lets users access confidential testing and vaccine information when and where they want. Take a moment to explore the GetTested Recommender tool, encourage others to use it, and promote its use among your prevention peers and colleagues.
