NIH-PEPFAR Collaboration on Implementation Science for HIV: Towards an AIDS-free Generation (R01)

The NIH, in collaboration with the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC) is soliciting applications for implementation science research that will inform delivery and scale-up of efficacious interventions to improve HIV prevention, care, and treatment in Africa.The intent of this FOA is to solicit implementation science research projects that will have a high impact on controlling the HIV epidemic and provide evidence for best programmatic practices in PEPFAR programs.

Oral Immune System Plasticity in Chronic HIV Infection Under Treatment and Oral Co-Infections (R01)

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits research projects that study the mechanisms of oral immune system plasticity relevant to chronic HIV infection and oral coinfections. In this context, we encourage studies on reversal of immune activation, residual inflammation, immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (IRIS), and microbial and by-product translocation. These conditions occur in persons chronically infected with HIV who are treated with combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) and who also experience oral opportunistic infections.

Tuberculosis Health Action Learning Initiative (THALI)

THALI will work with the Revised National TB Control Program, municipal governments, and private providers to improve TB control across three classifications of cities, grouped based on population. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to help identify, apply, and scale up successful innovative approaches to addressing TB.
