Limited Competition: Consortia for HIV/AIDS and Alcohol-Related Research Trials (CHAART) Project (Collaborative U01) Departme...

NPIN admin's picture

The overall goal of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to advance operations or implementation research in the context of alcohol and HIV/AIDS 1) to continue to develop a broader systems approach for monitoring complex HIV and alcohol-related morbidity and mortality and 2) to intervene to reduce the impact of alcohol and HIV disease progression and transmission. This proposed research initiative is aligned with the research priorities set forth in the Trans-NIH Plan for HIV-Related Research.

Exploring HIV Persistence and Eradication

NPIN admin's picture
amfAR has established a new funding mechanism, known as Investment Grants, to bring scientists outside the field of HIV/SIV to lend their experience and vision to curing HIV. Investment Grants are conducted over a four-year funding period with up to $1,000,000 in total funding from amfAR (including up to 20% indirect costs) and should include collaboration with a scientist who has a record of publications in the HIV field. Priority will be given to projects with the potential to improve upon current HIV cure strategies or identify undescribed challenges.

Integrated Family Planning Program (IFPP)

NPIN admin's picture
The goal of the FP Integrated Project is to increase use of modern contraceptive methods by target populations. This project’s target populations, defined below, have a high unmet need for family planning.1 The project goal supports the Government of the Republic of Mozambique (GRM) and Ministry of Health (MISAU) priorities related to improving the health of Mozambicans by increasing access to and use of voluntary family planning and contraceptive methods.

Adherence Studies in Adolescents with Chronic Kidney or Urologic Diseases (R01)

NPIN admin's picture

Adherence to a prescribed treatment regimen, including medications, devices and behavioral recommendations, can significantly impact morbidity and mortality for patients with chronic diseases, including chronic kidney or urologic disease. When adherence to complex and seemingly rigid treatment regimens is poor, the results can be tragic. Adolescence is a particularly challenging time for adherence given the competing demands in an adolescents life, the unique developmental changes, and rapidly changing set of responsibilities as they transition to adulthood.

Understanding HIV Persistence in Infants (R01)

NPIN admin's picture

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to stimulate research in the pathogenesis of perinatal HIV-1 infection by elucidating HIV-1 immune responses in the setting of the infant's evolving immune system and mechanisms of establishment and maintenance of HIV-1 latent viral reservoirs. The goal of this FOA is to gain knowledge to be used in the future development of strategies to induce HIV-1 remission.

Harnessing Big Data to Halt HIV (R01)

NPIN admin's picture

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to promote research that transforms understanding of HIV transmission, the HIV care continuum, and HIV comorbidities using Big Data Science (BDS). These approaches should include projects to assemble big data sources, conduct robust and reproducible analyses, and create meaningful visualization of big data.

Exploiting RNA as a Target for HIV Interventions (R21)

NPIN admin's picture

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to: (1) investigate the role of viral and cellular long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the regulation of HIV replication, pathogenesis, latency, immunity, and gene expression; (2) exploit lncRNAs for the development of novel HIV interventions; and (3) exploit advances in RNA structural biology to identify novel targets for HIV intervention and functional cure.

Elton John AIDS Foundation 2015 Grants

NPIN admin's picture
For this 2015 funding round, as in previous years, the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) invites letters of intent (LOIs) from any proposed project that is working with people who are most affected by HIV in the Americas, defined as the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, or Central or South America.

Development and Testing of Novel Interventions to Improve HIV Prevention, Care, and Program Implementation (R34) Department o...

NPIN admin's picture

This FOA provides resources to support (a) pilot or feasibility studies of new or adapted interventions to prevent HIV infection among populations where substance use may be a contributing factor; (b) pilot or feasibility studies of new or adapted interventions to improve the care of HIV infection among populations where substance use is prevalent, including interventions that integrate treatment for substance use disorders and HIV infection; or (c) pilot or feasibility studies to increase the scale, uptake, delivery, and/or quality of HIV prevention or care interventions with established e
