Evaluations to Improve Prevention Interventions Under the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Department of Health and Human Services

PEPFAR is committed to reducing new HIV infections worldwide by implementing evidence-based interventions that address risk at the individual, relationship, and community level. Adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) ages 15 to 24 years in sub-Saharan Africa are unique with respect to both their high burden of HIV disease and their extensive array of potential risk factors at the biological, behavioral, interpersonal, social, and structural levels.

Collaborative Consortia for the Study of HIV-Associated Cancers: U.S. and Low-and Middle-Income Country Partnerships (U54)

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to fund research on HIV-associated cancers in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) through collaborative efforts between investigators in United States (U.S.) and investigators in LMICs. The FOA will also support the enhancement of research capacity of LMIC institutions for research in this area. The FOA solicits applications for Specialized Center Cooperative Agreements (U54) for research on HIV-associated cancers from research institutions in the U.S. and LMICs.

Provision of Comprehensive Community Based Care and Support for People Living with HIV (PLHIV) in the United Republic of Tanzania under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)

There is still need for improved SI to guide national epidemic response. The purpose of this announcement is to build upon achievements of the current project and support the MOH to generate SI from program data using District Health Information System-2 and conduct priority population based, key population and facility based surveillance/surveys. It will strengthen capacity in disease monitoring/evaluation, monitoring the HIV/AIDS cascade from diagnosis, linkage to care/treatment and viral load suppression.

Technical Assistance to India's National AIDS Control Program (NACP) for Strengthening Adult and Pediatric Anti-retroviral Treatment (ART) and Care Services Delivery Network under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)

This FOA is a 5 year project aimed at strengthening Adult and Pediatric care and ART service delivery under India’s National AIDS Control Program (NACP) through technical assistance for clinical mentoring, quality improvement and capacity building with a focus on geographic area as per the President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) India’s Country Operational Plan.

Mechanisms of Immune Activation and Inflammation: HIV Infection, ART, and Drugs of Abuse (R01)

The purpose of this FOA is to promote research to investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms of HIV infection-induced immune activation and inflammation in the presence of antiretroviral therapy (ART) agents and drugs of abuse. The ultimate goal is to obtain information for developing therapeutic interventions for attenuating chronic inflammation-associated comorbidities as well as for restoring or improving ART efficacy in HIV-infected drug-abusing populations.

This announcement solicits applications for fiscal year (FY) 2016 to support a single organization that will serve as the Coordination and Technical Assistance Center (CTAC) for a new Secretary’s Minority AIDS Initiative Fund (SMAIF) program entitled Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Building Care and Prevention Capacity: Addressing the HIV Care Continuum in Southern Metropolitan Areas. The purpose of this program is to implement innovative models of service delivery that result in improvements in RWHAP Part A jurisdictions’ HIV care continuum for minority populations.

This FOA will support one-year, services planning research grants to develop anepidemiologic understanding of opioid injection drug use, Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection risk, and other adverse health consequences of such drug use, in conjunction with determining what resources/programs are currently available for addressing those problems, in any of the 420 Appalachian counties (www.arc.gov/counties).
