MMWR: Newborn Hepatitis B Vaccination Coverage Among Children Born January 2003 – June 2005 – United States

This report summarizes results of a survey on newborn hepatitis B vaccination and provides national, state, and local data on vaccination coverage for infants who received the hepatitis B vaccine during the first days of life. To measure the vaccine coverage during the neonatal period, CDC analyzed data from the 2006 National Immunization Survey (NIS).

MMWR Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report: Surveillance for Acute Viral Hepatitis - United States, 2006

This report describes the burden of acute disease attributed to infection with the hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C viruses, and describes acute disease trends in recent years. Cases of acute viral hepatitis are reported weekly by state and territorial health departments to CDC's National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System. The report includes the methods of collecting data, definitions for acute viral hepatitis, and analyses.

Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance 2007

This report presents statistics and trends for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the US through 2007. The information is based on (1) case reports from state and local STD programs; (2) the Regional Infertility Prevention Projects, the National Job Training Program (formerly the Job Corps), the Corrections STD Prevalence Monitoring Project, and the Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM) Prevalence Monitoring Project; (3) the Gonococcal Isolate Surveillance Project (GISP); and (4) national surveys implemented by federal and private organizations. The report consists of four parts.

New Estimates of U.S. HIV Prevalence, 2006

This information sheet presents new estimates of HIV prevalence for 2006, developed by CDC. The analysis shows that an estimated 1,106,400 adults and adolescents were living with HIV in the United States at the end of 2006. It discusses the growing population living with HIV; estimates of the percentage of people infected who were unaware of their status; HIV prevalence among specific populations, including transmission category, and race/ethnicity; implications of the new estimate; and an explanation of the methods used to derive the new estimates.

Incidence and Diagnoses of HIV Infection -- Puerto Rico, 2006

This report describes the HIV epidemic in Puerto Rico in 2006. The Puerto Rico Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) analyzed data on diagnoses of HIV infection, including infections that occurred in 2006 and in previous years, and used a stratified extrapolation approach developed by CDC to generate HIV incidence estimates. Results indicate that in 2006, an estimated 1,440 individuals aged 13 years or older were newly infected with HIV.

Cases of HIV Infection and AIDS in tihe United States and Dependent Areas, by Race/Ethnicity, 2003-2007

This report summarizes the diagnoses and prevalence of HIV/AIDS by race/ethnicity using data for cases of HIV infection and AIDS reported to CDC through June 2008. Estimated numbers of cases of HIV infection are presented, including cases of HIV infection that progressed to AIDS. Data are stratified by the following races and ethnic groups: American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, and white.

Sexual and Reproductive Health of Persons Aged 10-24 Years - United States, 2002-2007

This report presents data for 2002-2007 on sexual and reproductive health of persons aged 10-24 years in the United States. Data were compiled from the National Vital Statistics System and multiple surveys and surveillance systems that monitor sexual and reproductive health outcomes. The report addresses three primary topics: (1) current levels of risk behavior and health outcomes; (2) disparities by sex, age, race/ethnicity, and geographic residence; and (3) trends over time.

HIV Infection Among Injection-Drug Users --- 34 States, 2004--2007

In this report, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) analyzed data from the national notifiable disease reporting system for 2004-2007 from the 34 states with confidential name-based HIV reporting since 2003. Data represent injecting drug users (IDUs) who received a new diagnosis of HIV infection, regardless of when the infection was acquired and excluding IDUs categorized as men who have sex with men. Number and percentage of IDUs who were diagnosed with HIV were estimated by sex, age, race/ethnicity, and area of residence at the time of diagnosis.

Indian Health Surveillance Report: Sexually Transmitted Diseases 2007

This report presents statistics and trends for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) in the United States. The report is divided into two parts: the National STD Profile (1984-2007) contains text and figures that provide an overview of STD morbidity among AI/AN in the United States; and the IHS profiles (1998-2007) present STD rates and trends for the 12 IHS administrative areas.
