Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part F Dental Reimbursement Program

This announcement solicits applications for the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Part F Dental Reimbursement Program (DRP) to improve access to HIV oral health services for low-income, underinsured, and underserved people living with HIV (PLWH) and to support related education and training for the delivery of dental care to PLWH. The DRP defrays a portion of unreimbursed dental care costs for low-income, underinsured, and underserved PLWH incurred by accredited dental or dental hygiene education programs recognized by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

The goal of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support innovative, basic and translational, nonexempt human subjects research in two areas, gastrointestinal (GI) mucosal immunology and liver disease. The emphasis for GI mucosal immunology is on elucidation of mechanisms whereby innate and adaptive immunity in the GI tract interacts with HIV infection in the presence or absence of antiretroviral therapy (ART) and contributes to GI pathology.

Elucidating HIV and HIV-treatment Associated Metabolic/Endocrine Dysfunction (R01)

The goal of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support innovative research in humans to elucidate the role of HIV infection, including relevant host conditions or antiretroviral therapy, on metabolic and endocrine dysfunction, as well as to support innovative research delineating the pathophysiology, etiology, risk or protective factors, and potential strategies to prevent, treat, or reverse endocrine and metabolic dysfunction in HIV-infected individuals. Proposed projects must involve human subjects with HIV infection or materials or data from HIV-infected individuals.

This information sheet discusses HIV/AIDS among Asians and Pacific Islanders. It presents statistics on HIV/AIDS in 2005; race/ethnicity of persons diagnosed with HIV/AIDS during 2005; transmission categories of Asians and Pacific Islanders living with HIV/AIDS, 2005; and race ethnicity of persons (including children) living with HIV/AIDS, 2005. The information sheet examines risk factors and barriers to prevention, including sexual risk factors, substance use, low HIV testing rates, cultural and socioeconomic diversity, limited use of services, and data limitations.

Assessing for the Future: HIV Health Care and Community Needs among Latino, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Individuals in the Twin Cities Area

This report, based on a rapid community assessment, is meant to be a guide for improvements in HIV prevention, treatment,and supportive services for the Latino gay, bisexual, and men who have sex with men in the Twin Cities metro area. The assessment was taken from from 22 interviews with Latino gay or bisexual men, and transgender women (Latino GBT), 13 of which were living with HIV/AIDS.

PEPFAR Small Grants

The PEPFAR Small Grants Program is funded through the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR). The PEPFAR goal is to advance progress towards sustainable control of the HIV epidemic and, ultimately, achieve an AIDS-free generation. As part of the PEPFAR, the United States Embassy in Maputo administers the Small Grants Program that is seeking to support small, grassroots, community-run projects throughout Mozambique.
