Gonorrea: La Realidad [Gonorrhea: The Facts]

This pamphlet provides information on gonorrhea, an STD. It lists basic facts about the disease, the symptoms experienced by a woman and a man, transmission, testing, and treatment with antibiotics. It notes that an individual may be reinfected with gonorrhea from an untreated or new partner and advises a person with gonorrhea to inform recent sex partners so that they can get tested and treated. The pamphlet explains the complications of women not being treated including, pelvic inflammatory disease, chronic pain in the pelvic area, as well as a pregnant woman spreading the infection to a baby during birth. For a man, the complications of not being treated include sterility. The pamphlet explains risk reduction through abstinence and the use of condoms and emphasizes protecting oneself and one’s partner.
