Bacterial vaginosis and Tichomonasis Testing and Treatment

Alabama routinely screens for CT/GC/TV. However, there is no data on the most appropriate management of women diagnosed by wet prep for Bacterial vaginosis (BV) on the day of visit treated with metronidazole twice a day for 7 days and whose test results return reactive for T. vaginalis (TV). Alabama’s current protocol is to have these women, who were initially diagnosed with BV, return for single-dose metronidazole or tinidazole therapy. Partner notification is highly encouraged and EPT can be provided.

Standard of Care for Patients with Chlamydia and Gonorrhea: Expedited Partner Therapy (EPT)

This factsheet was developed for providers and health plans in California.  It is meant to make a case for EPT and to touch on some of the most common questions or concerns that come up when state and local staff are encouraging the use of EPT during trainings, provider detailing, etc.  The answers are not intended to be comprehensive, but instead we aimed to provide a brief response to common questions along with a citation to where more detailed information can be found.

STD/HIV Outbreak Response Plan

Greetings everyone. South Carolina is seeking input from states or jurisdictions that have already developed, not necessarily tested, an Outbreak Response Plan that incorporates HIV. Anybody out there has been able to combine STDs (e.g. syphilis) and HIV successfully? Any input will be greatly appreciated. JP.
