Strengthening Surveillance in Jurisdictions with High Incidence of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Infections

The purpose of this funding announcement is to support and improve active surveillance of hepatitis C and B in statewide jurisdictionsexperiencing high rates of incident cases of HCV, HBV, or both to support implementation of testing, treatmentand prevention services and activities based on surveillance data.

For the first fiscal year, total funding of $3,200.000 includes 2,700,000 for Core activities and $500,000 for optional surveillance-based activities. Anticipate 14 awards for core activities and 10 awards for optional surveillance-based activities. Applicants must be funded to support core activities in order to receive funding for optional surveillance-based activities. In year one, the average award is anticipated to be approximately $242,857, including $192,857 for core activities and $50,000 for one optional activity. For year 1 only, the ceiling is $350,000, including $200,000 for core activities and $150,000 for 3 optional activities at $50,000 each. This ceiling applies only to year 1. The amount awarded in years 2-4 is dependent on future allocations. The floor for year 1 is $100,000 per site for core activities only. Throughout the project period, CDC will continue the award based on the availability of funds, the evidence of satisfactory progress by the awardee (as documented in required reports), and the determination that continued funding is in the best interest of the federal government.
