This FOA will support one-year, services planning research grants to develop anepidemiologic understanding of opioid injection drug use, Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection risk, and other adverse health consequences of such drug use, in conjunction with determining what resources/programs are currently available for addressing those problems, in any of the 420 Appalachian counties (www.arc.gov/counties).

In sub-Saharan Africa, TB is the leading killer of persons living with HIV (PLHIV), and Zimbabwe is one of 22 countries WHO designated as high-burden for TB incidence. Infection prevention and control (IPC), and particularly TB infection control (TBIC) activities are critical to protect patients and health care workers (HCW) from healthcare-associated transmission of airborne infectious diseases.

Within a TA framework, CDC CRO aims to support MOHs as they strive to reach the UNAIDS 90:90:90 targets. This FOA will expand the capacity of Caribbean MOHs to strategically address the HIV epidemics by supporting sustainable national efforts to improve and scale up high impact combination prevention along the HIV COPCT.
