The purpose of the RWHAP Part C EIS Program is to provide HIV primary care in the outpatient setting. Applicants must propose to provide a comprehensive continuum of outpatient HIV primary care services in the designated service area including: 1) targeted HIV counseling, testing, & referral; 2) medical evaluation and clinical care; 3) other primary care services; & 4) referrals to other services.

National HIV Surveillance System (NHSS)

The National HIV Surveillance System (NHSS) is the mechanism through which the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP), HIV Incidence and Case Surveillance Branch (HICSB) monitors trends in HIV infection diagnoses in the United States. Data collected on reported HIV cases are also used to estimate the prevalence and incidence of HIV infections, progression of disease after diagnosis, and receipt of care (based on laboratory tests after diagnosis).

1993 Revised Classification System for HIV Infection and Expanded Surveillance Case Definition for AIDS Among Adolescents and Adults

This report contains CDC's revised classification system for HIV infection and AIDS among adolescents and adults. The definition replaces the system published by CDC in 1986 and contains the expanded AIDS surveillance case definition. Appendixes include equivalences for CD4+ T-lymphocyte count and percentage of total lymphocytes, conditions included in the 1993 AIDS surveillance case definition, definitive diagnostic methods for diseases indicative of AIDS, and suggested guidelines for presumptive diagnosis of diseases indicative of AIDS.
