Due to the high prevalence of viral hepatitis, HIV, and STIs in correctional facilities, as well as, the opportunity for high-impact interventions to be implemented, many health department viral hepatitis, HIV, and STI programs (prevention programs) have established collaborative partnerships with correctional facilities in their jurisdiction. These include forming financial relationships to provide viral hepatitis, HIV, and STI services.

During the workshop, barriers and recommendations to accelerating HCV elimination in prison settings were examined in four areas: 1) Policy, 2) Implementation, 3) Financing, and 4) Awareness.
