This information kit contains a letter announcing the publication of the report,"Recommendations for Case Management Collaboration and Coordination in Federally Funded HIV/AIDS Programs" and the report. The report describes the use of case management in different settings, examines benefits and barriers to case management collaboration and coordination, and identifies methods for strengthening linkages between HIV/AIDS case management programs. It includes examples of successful models to aid users in eliminating or reducing service gaps and duplication in the delivery of services.

HIV Infection Among Young Black Men Who Have Sex With Men --- Jackson, Mississippi, 2006--2008

This report summarizes results of a survey of 29 black 17-25 year-old men who have sex with men (MSM) who were diagnosed with HIV infection during January 2006-April 2008 in the three-county Jackson Mississippi area. The survey was conducted by the Mississippi State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The study examined risk behavior and HIV testing behavior of the participants.

Syringe Exchange Programs – United States, 2008

This study discusses information on the 184 syringe exchange programs (SEPs) operating in 36 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Of these SEPs, 67% completed a mail/telephone survey conducted by North American Syringe Exchange Network (NASEN) and Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, which covered program operations for 2008. The report summarizes findings from the survey and compares them with results from a previous SEP survey for 1994-2007.

Prevalence and Awareness of HIV Infection Among Men Who Have Sex With Men – 21 Cities, United States, 2008

This report summarizes CDC’s National HIV Behavioral Surveillance System (NHBS) data collected in 2008 from 21 metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) using an anonymous cross-sectional interview of men at venues where men who have sex with men (MSM) congregate. The data show that of 8,153 MSM interviewed and tested in the 21 MSAs participating in NHBS in 2008, HIV prevalence was 19 percent, with non-Hispanic blacks having the highest prevalence (28 percent), followed by Hispanics (18 percent), non-Hispanic whites (16 percent), and persons who were multiracial or of other race (17 percent).

HCV Coinfection: Expanding Access Through the RWCA

This slide set discusses use of the Ryan White Care Act (RWCA) to provide treatment of hepatitis C coinfection in persons living with HIV. It presents an overview of viral hepatitis, the basics of hepatitis C compared with hepatitis A and B, acute and chronic infection, prevention, HCV treatment and side effects of treatment, treatment decisions,, barriers to treatment, and increasing access to treatment through the RWCA.
